The Global Church

The “Catholic’s Come Home “campaign has focused our attention on various aspects of the Church. The tragic earthquake in Haiti has reminded us that the Catholic Church's reach extends far beyond our parish. It stretches out into the poorest countries and touches lives in despair. The following is a list of some of the Catholic organizations that are providing vital services all over the world.

Catholic Charities
Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Worker Movement
Catholic Near East Welfare Association
St. Vincent Pallotti Center
Society of St. Vincent DePaul
ShareLife
National Catholic Communty Foundation
Catholic Workmen

This is just a sample of how the Catholic Church is vital part of people lives' all across the globe.

Our parish, along with all of the parishes of the Archdiocese give help, support and spiritual guidance through these groups.

Thank you for your very generous support to the relief effort in Haiti.

Thank you for all that you give so willingly of your time, talent, and treasure.

As always we pray that we are a living example of what it means to be Catholic.

What is Hopelessly Devoted?
Equal parts faithful and funny, Hopelessly Devoted is a lovingly irreverent romp through the lives of two 21st century Catholics. Bursting with the guilt..., er, love of Christ, Hopelessly Devoted reconciles religion with the functions of living--one sin, one virtue, one misguided prayer at a time. Audiences throughout the nation have been treated to this hilarious take on what it means to live faithfully in a not-so-faithful world.

Here's what folks are saying: "The show is very much a product of the Chicago improv scene: motley, rapid, lofi. But it slows down to do more than put its heart on its sleeve with monologues from Vinnie and his co-creator Natalie on their experiences growing up Catholic. It's an awkward, profane apologia for Catholicism and faith generally."

Catholics Come Home: Chicago Style Evangelization

Many parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago have tried to find effective ways to reach out to “inactive” Catholics. This year there is an evangelization effort that will support those efforts through a media campaign called Catholics Come Home. The Archdiocese of Chicago and the Dioceses of Joliet and Rockford have joined together in this evangelization effort and have funded the commercials, which will be shown on all major networks within this large viewing area including ABC, NBC, CBS, WGN, FOX, cable stations, Univision, Telemundo, Polsat and Polvision.

The centerpiece of this evangelization effort is a commercial titled Epic that has been translated into three languages: English, Spanish and Polish. This commercial has won multiple awards including a 2008 Telly Award for Top Honors and 2009 Communicator Awards. The commercial campaign will begin on December 16, 2009 and run for 5 ½ weeks, over that time the average TV viewer will see a Catholics Come Home commercial 13 to 20 time

The Office for Evangelization has created a webpage devoted to Catholics Come Home. This is the place to see a truly “Chicago” look of the media campaign and to find facts, photos, and resources specifically for parishes in the Archdiocese. For more information go to www.CatholicsComeHomeCHICAGO.org.

Catholics Come Home Chicago Begins in Advent

This Advent the Archdiocese of Chicago will partner with the Dioceses of Joliet and Rockford on an evangelization initiative called Catholics Come Home. This effort will use TV commercials that will air December 16 to January 24, 2010 on 10 major networks in English, Spanish and Polish. We encourage our parishioners to pray for those who have left the Church and invite them to join us at Transfiguration. Parishioners can pick up a brochure to be used as an invitation for those who have drifted from the practice of the faith. We lovingly invite all those who have drifted away, to come home, to find healing, answers and support.
